Treasure Box Tuesday, January 19, 2021
Welcome to Treasure Box Tuesday from Traci Smith. This is my weekly roundup of goodness emailed every week. I often focus on links related to faith and family, but I also include bits of whatever goodness strikes my fancy for the week. If you’re interested in more goodies, including a private Facebook group and discounts, you might be interested in the PREMIUM version.
Lenten Calendar is Here! I’ve been getting questions about this, and it’s finally ready (although I’m just getting started on Lenten planning!) As I mulled over what kind of calendar I wanted for this year, I landed on a PRAYER CALENDAR for a variety of reasons. It’s designed to go out to everyone, not just families, and it’s super simple. This seemed to be a year for it. I hope you enjoy. You can include it in a Lenten Box, email out to everyone, or do it as a way to unite your church in prayer. Enjoy!
Little Theologians: Had a great time chatting with Dave Csinos last week. You can catch the conversation HERE. (And get the book, truly.) I loved Dave’s suggestion to ask children to draw a picture of God. No prompting, no other discussion, just draw God as they imagine God to be.
Outschool — Online Learning: My 4 year old daughter has started to call me “mommy pig.” She loves Peppa Pig! I signed her up for an Outschool Peppa Pig Party. Do you know Outschool? My children have done a variety of classes through them during the pandemic. I thought I’d pass on this $20 CREDIT FOR YOUR FIRST CLASS. We’ve had great success so far, and I can see churches using it in a variety of ways.
Holy Troublemakers Sermon Series — If you’re looking for a good Christian Education series or sermon series, Holy Troublemakers and Unconventional Saints is a great resource. I’m doing a profile a week for 6 weeks. Lots to love and hits that magical “intergenerational” note.
Making Room — This week in our church gathering I said something about Lent and my own child said “What’s Lent?” I made a mental note to take THIS BOOK down off the shelf.
Simple Upgrades — I heard Austin Kleon say that the $3 SPAGHETTI is 3x better than the $1 spaghetti and guess what? It’s true. It made me wonder what simple upgrades we can do in life for our churches and our ministries? Beyond serving great spaghetti, I mean. :)
Enjoy the Treasures,
