Welcome to Treasure Box Tuesday, your weekly email of resources for faith + family + spirit from Traci Smith. Every week I share 3-5 interesting links, quotes, and ideas for faith and family. This version is always free, but you can check out the PREMIUM VERSION here which offers weekly additional links, offers, and goodies (and it supports this free version!) Just a word of gratitude before getting to the links: I have the best readers ever. You all reach out to me with love and concern and encouragement. You support my work, my family, and me! Thank you, thank you! I want you to know that I read every email that comes through here. As many of you know, I’ve been in a heavy season of transition with coaching and helping my husband launch a new congregation. For this reason, I’ve not been responding as much to general emails or requests for specific resources as much as I would like to. Stay tuned for some ideas about this like an upcoming Ask Me Anything and other options!
The Best Theological Book I’ve Read in Decades — Really. I feel hesitant about overselling a book in this way because it’s like when someone says “It was the best movie ever” and then you go and see it and you think “Yeah, it was ok.” I can’t help it with this one, though. It’s absolutely… just so good. On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg. I will be referring to it often, and am considering making it a sermon series. Highly recommend for individual or group study.
Teaching Children to Give — Laura Alary and I are doing a joint webinar on stewardship and giving. It’ll have book recommendations, some conversation about giving, generally, and faith practices from my work. It’ll be good to think through ways to foster generosity and giving! Details HERE.
Moms in Ministry 101 Group Coaching Cohort — I’m very excited about this one! The time between Easter and Pentecost can be a time of deep personal growth. This year I’m piloting a moms-in-ministry group coaching cohort. Participants can have children of any age and be in full-time or part-time ministry. For now, this pilot is limited to six participants, but I’ll be offering future sessions at different times, so if you’re interested in the concept but the time doesn’t work, please send me an email and I’ll put you on a list for future times. See all the details on the Eventbrite Page HERE.
News from GenOn — Many of you know how much I love GenOn Ministries (I was a student in their programs!) They are launching a brand-new pilot project for churches longing to connect in meaningful ways with families. Learn more HERE.
Jelly Bean Prayer — I don’t have favorite practices in my books, (of course! They’re all my babies, ha!) but I’m particularly proud of the JELLY BEAN PRAYER because it seeks to offer a new and fresh perspective on something that has become ubiquitous in children’s ministry. I think it’s perfect for Easter morning!
Infinity Movie — Documentaries are my jam, recently. THIS ONE was so mind-bending and, frankly, breathtaking.
Enjoy the Treasures,
TS
